Normandy 2025

This year the Bicycle Adventure Club’s summer expedition is to Normandy – France. 25th to 29th May 2025.

This is an open invitation for you to join us!

We will be staying at the lovely Camping La Baie Des Veys near the town of Carenta Les Marais. According to the website:

The Camping de la Baie des Veys is located in the heart of the Cotentin Marshes Park and close to the D-Day beaches, Utah beach, Omaha beach, in a preserved environment, where peace and quiet are assured.

It is a 50 minute drive or 3 hour cycle ride from Cherbourg ferry Terminal. This will be our base for 5 days and we will ride out from there.

Please note: it isn’t an organised trip. You are responsible for yourself, your transport, your accommodation and food. We provide the camaraderie of a group, and a good time exploring the region with your mates on your bike. We can help you with logistics. There is a WhatsApp button below.

There will be a few led group rides. There is no pressure to join in. You are also welcome to do your own thing and join the group for evenings & relaxing.

Any bike you have will do. The area is pretty flat and we ride at a relaxed pace. There will be some gravel, off road riding but nothing technical, and you can always push. Some will be riding electric bikes – don’t forget your charger. Please make sure you bring tools & spares. 

So far 7 intrepid Bicycle Adventure Clubbers are all booked up. Some are in tents, some in camper vans and I believe there are caravan/glamping options on the site. 

According to the owners the site is booking up quite quickly so the sooner you book the better. They have recommended we book our pitches by the end of March. You can do this online here:

Meals are not provided. We tend to congregate to eat and sometimes we buddy up and cook. In past years we have made group trips to the local supermarket for provisions. We have also prepared group meals where everyone has contributed some food. We may also head out to eat at a local restaurant.

Thursday 22nd May – Dave & I will be on the 08:30 Poole to Cherbourg ferry. Arriving at the campsite early evening. Others will be arriving on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th.

Sunday 25th Evening – Arrive at Campsite. Chill and meet everyone. Possibly a short ride out to familiarise ourselves with the local area.

Monday – Wednesday 28th: To be determined with Group: Please bring some ideas!
