Isle of Wight Summer Expedition
2/3/4 September 2022
This year the Bicycle Adventure Club’s summer expedition is to the Isle of Wight and we invite you all to join us for a weekend of bike riding, bonding and belly laughing.
Mary & I will be there Friday 2nd September and camping at the lovely Whitefield Forest Touring Park for the weekend returning home on Monday 5th September.
You will need to organise your own transport and camping but I have put the details below of when Mary & I are travelling and where we are staying so you can use the blue links to book.
There is an EVENT set up in our Facebook Group (You will need to join the group to see this) where there is lots of chatter, organising & ride-sharing from Birmingham available….
Loose plan is:
Friday 2nd September
Arrive at Campsite. Chill and meet everyone.
Saturday 3rd September
2 Rides on offer:
- Off Road Adventure MTB/Gravel ride – possibly the 53 mile Chalk Ridge Extreme or part of it
- Around the Island Following the road around the island, a 65 mile route! This might be moved to Sunday for folks that want to do the off and on road.
Please be aware the Isle of Wight is very very lumpy and you will be cycling up A LOT of hills! You’ll also be cycling down them too!

Sunday 4th September
Trail ride, a bit flatter, possibly including part of the Red Squirrel Trail and hopefully including a swim in the sea.
Sunday afternoon/evening
Relax, decompress, stories, singing, food, etc…..
Camping
Call Pat at Whitefield Forest Touring Park to book your pitch/camper. Pat will also book your ferry for you too!

You are of course welcome to join in for all or part of the weekend and make alternative accommodation arrangements but all rides will start and end at the campsite.
Ferries
We are sailing with Red Funnel at 11am from Southampton:
A few folks are leaving their car on the mainland and getting the ferry as a foot passenger. Companies like https://www.yourparkingspace.co.uk/ are great for renting space where you can leave your car.
If you need any more help of information please get in touch at bicycleadventureclubuk@gmail.com or Facebook
or
We really hope you can join us this year and we look forward to seeing you.

Please note: whilst we are willing to help you organise your trip or help with any information you need, your journey to the Isle of Wight and accomodation are your own responsibility. There will be at least one led ride for you to attend but please follow the route links above to make sure you are prepared for the terrain.
Bikes: whatever you bring, make sure it has low gearing for the ups! A gravelbike would be ideal but a hybrid or MTB will do. We won’t be breaking and speed records.
